A year of Integrated Studies serves as the foundation for your further education at Penn. Many BFS students continue to work across disciplines, while others benefit from early exposure to Penn’s leading professors to pursue deeper independent research and scholarship within a single discipline.
After your first-year experience in ISP, you will continue on as a Benjamin Franklin Scholar. You will need to maintain a cumulative 3.40 GPA, and complete three BFS seminars by the end of your senior year as well as a short BEN Talk on your most significant research discovery during your Senior spring term. Winners of the BEN Talk Prize are announced at graduation. For more information on Benjamin Franklin Scholars and the requirements for graduation see here.
The tools and skills you gain in the Integrated Studies Program will continue to inform your overall education not only at Penn but in life after Pennl. The world's deepest problems are complex and intertwined. The ISP experience starts you on the path of thinking across disciplines to untangle the knottiest of our current challenges.
