Erin Schott

My name is Erin, and I am a member of the class of 2024 studying Classics and English. Outside of the classroom, I am a copy editor for Discentes, the Penn Classics journal, and I serve on the Benjamin Franklin Scholars undergraduate advisory board.

During my freshman fall at Penn, I took an ISP course combining history and classics that helped me realize my interest in the ancient world. ISP gave me close-reading and critical-thinking skills that I have taken with me into sophomore year. The smaller weekly seminar allowed me to engage with my peers in discussions about the readings, and I made friends through my seminar that I still keep in touch with a year later. I realized from my time in ISP that I enjoy asking questions at the nexus of multiple fields, and this insight prompted me to take a digital humanities class this semester. I am so grateful to have been a part of the ISP program, and I would recommend it to any incoming freshman who wants to investigate big questions.
